Bahamian Islands – Abacos Is

The Abacos are a string of Bahamian islands some 175 miles east of central Florida. The main island is Great Abaco, third largest island in the Bahamas, with a curve of cays just a few miles offshore creating a barrier to form the protected Sea of Abaco, perfect for sailing, day tripping or scuba and snorkeling. The crystal clear waters of the Bahamas make this locale perfect for a relaxing vacation and ideal for a crewed yachting holiday or bareboat adventure.

The history of the Abaco Islands makes them unique. A large part of the population is descended from Loyalists from the American War of Independence. Now they own small guest houses, hotels and restaurants, so enjoy discovering their culture and history, from gun running, wrecking and piracy to fishing and boat building in more modern times.
