In addition to being "The Sailing Capital of the World," the BVI appeals to energetic, lively people who enjoy our warm, sunny climate. There is array of water related sports from kayaking to parasailing.  Kayaking - The many inlets throughout the islands are an excellent place to paddle kayaks. Many crewed charter yachts carry them as part of their water sports inventory  Surfing - One of the best water sports when it comes to making a splash in our BVI turquoise waters. Surfing is quickly becoming a favorite activity along our beaches for tourists and locals alike. The Hi-Ho Red Strip surf series is a well known internationally recognized competition. It starts December and continues through February with categories for all ages. Windsurfing - Our trade winds allow for great windsurfing and kite boarding experiences. The BVI hosts the annual Highland Spring HIHO Windsurfing and Sailing Adventure for many years now: A week of windsurfing through the island chain with parties nightly at the various locations. Support catamarans are used for nightly accommodation. Competing windsurfers will cover over 150 miles as they race between the islands. Power Boats - If you want to explore the BVI’s secluded beaches in a hurry or in a day, try a power boat. There are companies in Tortola and Virgin Gorda who will rent an unmanned boat for a day - all you need is some power boat experience and the curiosity to explore our islands. Or, if you prefer, a power boat day cruise, complete with crew, will guide you from island to island. Kiteboarding - The newest extreme sport in the BVI.  - It’s becoming very popular and a school is available for beginners at the Bitter End Yacht Club. You can be up and riding in two to three days.
